Exclusions
不保事項
Exclusions are the situations or items a policy lists as not paid. Common examples are illnesses that existed before the policy, high-risk activities and losses caused on purpose. Even when an event is within the cover in general, a claim can still be refused if an exclusion applies.
Example
Suppose a travel policy covers overseas medical expenses up to HK$500,000.
- Medical expenses limit
- HK$500,000
- Event
- Injury in an activity the policy excludes
- Payout
- HK$0
- Reason
- An exclusion applies, so the limit does not
However high the limit, a claim caught by an exclusion can be paid nothing.
