Minimum commission
最低佣金
Commission can be a percentage of the trade value or a fixed amount per order. Many brokers set a minimum per order, and when the percentage works out lower than the minimum, the minimum is charged. So the real commission rate on a small trade can be higher than the published percentage.
Example
Suppose commission is 0.1% of the trade value with a minimum of HK$50 per order.
- Buy HK$20,000: by the rate
- HK$20
- Buy HK$20,000: charged
- HK$50 (0.25%)
- Buy HK$100,000: by the rate
- HK$100
- Buy HK$100,000: charged
- HK$100 (0.1%)
On the same rate, a HK$20,000 trade costs 0.25%, which is 2.5 times the rate on a HK$100,000 trade.
